Who We Are – Ruth Grimes Elementary
Home of the RAMS

At Ruth Grimes, we’re not just a school — we’re a community. From our youngest TK students to our 6th-grade leaders, we’re 603 strong, and we come from all over because Grimes is where we belong.

We are proud to offer two strong learning paths: our English-only program and our flagship Dual Immersion Program, now in its 18th year. About half of our students are in the Dual Program, and the other half are in English classes — but we all learn, lead, and celebrate together.

As Lena, our ASB President, says, “Ruth Grimes is not just your average school, and we love it.” And she’s right. What makes us special is that we embrace who we are — a multicultural school where everyone belongs.

Our students say it best:

🌍 Mohammad (6th Grade): “During Ramadan, our school makes space for students like me who are fasting. That’s just one way Grimes makes everyone feel welcome.”
🎓 Jeffrey (6th Grade): “College is not just a dream; it’s the plan!”
👩🏽‍🏫 Ginette (5th Grade): “Our teachers don’t just teach lessons. They help us dream big.”
🌟 Joceline (6th Grade): “Learning two languages helps my brain get stronger.”
🎨 Andrea (6th Grade): “Being bilingual will help me get into college and have better jobs in the future.”

At Grimes, we believe learning should be joyful. We celebrate success, we dress up, we play Nationball, and if you're a Respectful, Responsible Role Model, you might even be “Principal for the Day!”

Our parents are part of the heartbeat of our school. From decorating our halls to playing guitar at morning drop-off, our “SuperParents” help make school feel like home.

We are proud of our diversity. We speak English, Spanish, and Arabic — and we’re always learning about one another through cultural events like “Cultures Around the World.”

So, who are we?

We’re RAMS.
We’re learners.
We’re leaders.
We’re a family.

We can’t wait for you to visit and see for yourself what makes Ruth Grimes Elementary so special.
